Alter Ego
La silhouette che attraversa le mie opere rappresenta proprio questo.
La molteplicità della donna.
Non un'identità precisa, ma tutte quelle che possono convivere dentro di noi.
Ogni Alter Ego nasce da una contraddizione, da una domanda, da un frammento di vita o da qualcosa che mi ha fatto fermare a pensare.
A volte nasce da una conversazione. Da una frase. Da un'immagine vista per caso. Da una pubblicità. Da una notizia.
Prendo qualcosa fuori contesto e provo a guardarlo da un'altra parte.
A volte diventa un pensiero. A volte un collage. A volte un nuovo Alter Ego.
Non creo collage per essere semplicemente guardati.
Li creo perché qualcuno possa riconoscersi in un frammento. In una parola. In una silhouette. In una delle tante donne che siamo state, che siamo o che forse diventeremo.
Alter Ego è il mio modo di ricomporre i pezzi.
E forse, in qualche modo, è anche il tuo.

ALTER EGO
The silhouette that appears throughout my work represents exactly that.
The multiplicity of women.
Not one specific identity, but all the identities that can coexist within us.
Each Alter Ego begins with a contradiction, a question, a fragment of life or something that makes me stop and think.
Sometimes it starts with a conversation. A sentence. An image I happen to see. An advertisement. A piece of news.
I take something out of context and try to look at it from somewhere else.
Sometimes it becomes a thought. Sometimes a collage. Sometimes a new Alter Ego.
I don't create collages simply to be looked at.
I create them so that someone might recognize herself in a fragment. In a word. In a silhouette. In one of the many women we have been, we are, or might still become.
Alter Ego is my way of putting the pieces back together.
And perhaps, in some way, it can be yours too.
